How to Make Slime

Slime is a fun toy to make things with or just squish. Better yet, this recipe is safe, easy and can be made in under 10 minutes.

Caution:

Although this is a kid’s toy and non-toxic, it does not mean you can substitute a meal and eat this. Kids do not eat toys and this is a toy.

The Recipe

This recipe was a variation from Elmer’s website. While we tried to create Elmer’s slime, we tried it once and the slime was still very sticky. One attempt and fail is all that a parent of 4 year old twins can handle.

Next, we added 2oz more glue, water and a 1/2 TBSP more of saline solution.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces of Elmer’s Clear Glue
  • 1 TBSP of water
  • 1 1/2 TBSP of Contact Saline Solution (with Boric Acid and Sodium Borate)
  • 1/2 tsp of Baking Soda
  • 4 drops of food coloring

Instructions

  • Add all of the above to a mixing container.
    • 6 ounces of Elmer’s Clear Glue

    • 1 TBSP of water

    • 1 1/2 TBSP of Contact Saline Solution (with Boric Acid and Sodium Borate)

    • 1/2 tsp of Baking Soda

    • 4 drops of food coloring

  • Mix with a plastic spoon (so you can throw it away).

  • When it gets too thick, grab all of the slime and get as much liquid as you can.

  • Knead it which will mix it thoroughly and more vigorously than the spoon.

  • Get more of the remaining liquid from the mixing container.

  • Knead it.

  • Rinse and repeat until all of the slime is out of the mixing container or the slime is at the consistency that you desire.
  • And there you have it… Smile you have Slime!
