Granny’s Mac and Cheese

This was a staple at every family gathering. If brought to a party, you will not have left overs (make two batches)

Below are the the ingredients that I use after experimenting with what my Granny wrote down. Feel free to try the original.

Ingredients

  • 8oz Package of Macaroni
    • The amount that comes in a Kraft deluxe box
  • 1 block (8oz) of grated/shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup of cheese whiz
    • I use the cheese sauce that comes in the Kraft deluxe box
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 egg beaten
  • dash of pepper and salt

How to Make

  • Preheat the oven at 350 degrees
  • Find a deep glass/pyrex dish (so it does get too crisp/crunchy)
    • at least 3 inches deep (the deeper the more moist it will be)
    • 6 or more inches in diameter
  • Boil the macaroni noodles in water for about 8 minutes
  • add all ingredients into the glass/pyrex dish
  • mix well
  • put in preheated over for at least 30mins
  • After 30 mins insert butter knife to make sure the knife comes out of the Mac and cheese non-runny. You shouldn’t see the liquid dripping down
  • Also, you will will know its down when the top of the Mac and cheese is a dark brown (even a tiny bit black at some parts)
  • In the end, 30 mins will cook the egg so it will al be fine to eat. We sometimes will have it in there from 30 to 45 mins.
