WARNING: THIS WILL LOWER YOUR MAC Security
If your Mac has been upgraded to a new version of MacOS, in this case Catalina 10.15, a message might pop for applications previously working saying, application “is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.”
That is because secure settings have changed and the publisher might not be allowed on this new OS.
Security and Privacy Settings is missing “Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere”
How to Add the Security and Privacy Option for “Allow Apps Downloaded from: Anywhere”
- Right-click on the System preferences and close it
- press cmd + space
- type
terminal
- press enter
- type or paste
sudo spctl --master-disable
- Enter your password
$ sudo spctl --master-disable
Password:
- go to system preferences > Security & Privacy
- And it should look like this.
- if not, click the lock button
- Enter your password
- Select “anywhere”
Finally, If this does not work
You might just have download the App again and re-install 🙁
I have had 50/50 success with this.
